Meet the Team
Dr. Jo Hermberg
Dr. Jo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meat and Animal Science
and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, both from UW-Madison. She
is licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Wisconsin.
Dr. Hermberg is currently a member of the
Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She has more than twenty years of veterinary practice experience.
Dr. Jo resides in Sussex with her husband, Kirn. They have five children, and dogs, cats, birds, frogs and chinchillas. Her interests include family events, running and of course, animals.
Dr. Chris Benton
Dr. Chris Benton joined the team at Pet Partners Animal Clinic in August 2019. She earned her BS in Microbiology from UW-La Crosse in 2007, and her DVM from UW-Madison in 2011. Dr. Chris is a member of the WVMA, AVMA, and the ARAV (Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians). Her professional interests include ophthalmology, surgery, and providing care to reptiles and exotic small mammals.
Dr. Chris currently lives in New Berlin with her wife, Katie. She has a mixed breed dog named Darwin, three cats (Sterling, Lilee, and Beni), a guinea pig named Nibbs, and a ball python named Orion. She also enjoys caring for invertebrate pets, owning a coll
ection of millipedes and hermit crabs. Her interests outside of work include gardening (including vegetables, houseplants, and bonsai trees), drawing, painting, and playing classic video and board games.
Gail joined Pet Partners Animal Clinic in January of 2018.She has been a certified veterinary technician since 2003 after graduating with an associate degree in applied science.She is a member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Technician Association.
She loves to spend her free time with her husband and other family members, especially her grandchildren Keona and Sawyer.Walking, hiking, and camping with her Boston Terriers Ellie Mae and Finnigan and cuddling with her cat Smokey are some of her favorite activities.
Christy joined Pet Partners Animal Clinic in November of 2018. She has been involved with animal care since 1993 starting as a volunteer at the Humane Society and then as a Certified Veterinary Technician after graduating from MATC Madison in 1996. She has also worked in emergency veterinary medicine. She is interested in all aspects of animal care but especially enjoys dentistry and surgical assistance. She has attended many courses and in-services and has been involved with community education events including those at schools and local fairs.
Christy enjoys educating the clients and will continue to expand her knowledge and skills in order to help clients better care for their pets at home. Her personal interests include spending time with her family including her husband Todd, their two children and their dog Charlie, cat Lena, and goldfish Zippy. She also enjoys volleyball, running and photography.
Alyssa joined Pet Partners Animal Clinic in August 2019. She has been a certified technician since 2014 after graduating with an associate degree in veterinary technology. Alyssa knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She really enjoys patient care and nursing and educating clients so that they can give their pets the best care.
In her free time Alyssa loves to spend time with her family and boyfriend. She enjoys powerlifting, hiking, traveling, and photography. Her favorite holiday is Halloween which she loves to decorate for. She has two cats, Blaze, Rory, and Finn.
Mackenzie started at Pet Partners Animal Clinic in March of 2019. She is currently an undergrad student at the University of Milwaukee studying Biology and Animal Science. She hopes to go to veterinary school in a couple years. When not busy with work or school, Mackenzie enjoys spending time with her two German Shepherds, Kane and Kemba, and her Beagle mix, Murphy, going for walks and hikes. She also enjoys golf, going to Bucks and Brewers games, and photography.
Alex is very excited to join the Pet Partners Animal Clinic team! She has an associate’s degree in Animal Science. She has several years of experience as a CVT. Alex is an advocate for animals because they don’t have a voice we can understand. She especially loves to see exotics because no matter how small, they all leave prints in our hearts! In her free time, she loves to cook, paint, camp, hike and play her violin. Her and her husband love to travel, especially to see their favorite band, 311. Alex’s motto is, “Stay positive and love your life." She has three cats; Shandris, Charli, and Penny. She also has three tarantulas; Francine, Elphaba, and Glinda.
Melissa is excited to join the Pet Partners Animal Clinic team. She has experience as an assistant and veterinary technician. Melissa’s love for animals started at a very young age and continued to grow from there. In her free time she loves to spend time with her son, family, and friends. She enjoys traveling, camping, reading, and taking care of her cats, Romeo and Zippee and fish.
Sarah is excited to be working as a veterinary assistant at Pet Partners Animal Clinic. She earned a bachelor degree in Business Management for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she played basketball for four years.
For the past 10 years, Sarah has provided in-home dog and cat services for people in the Lake Country area. Sarah lives in Sussex with her Great Dane, Mickie, turtle, and fish.
When Sarah is not busy coaching boys and girls basketball teams at Richmond School, she enjoys kayaking, landscaping, decorating for the holidays, participating in sports, and attending sporting events.
